What we do

Energy-efficient LED lighting design and install

The right LED lighting can be key to improving the energy usage of a building — and the wellbeing of the people working inside it. BLEC Group designs and installs energy-efficient LED lighting across the South West for domestic, commercial and industrial clients. From blocks of apartments, warehouses and factories, to offices, external car parks and more.

LED lighting results in much-reduced energy usage. Save money, enhance corporate reputation, and improve the working environment — whilst helping reduce your carbon footprint with BLEC Group.

Installation across any size of premises

Any size of LED lighting installation can be undertaken by our team of installers. All our engineers are 18th Edition qualified electricians with knowledge and experience working in the lighting industry.

No need to worry about access. We’ll arrange everything — from small step-up podiums right up to heights of more than 12 metres where Mobile Elevate Platforms are used. All our staff are IPAF trained in the use of these machines.

Why BLEC for LED upgrades

Lower bills, brighter spaces, better numbers

Six things that come as standard on every BLEC LED upgrade — from the free survey through to grants advice and CIBSE-compliant designs.

Free detailed survey

Identify existing lighting, design replacement levels, cost out the work, and calculate payback — all before you commit.

Up to 80% energy saved

The right LED design slashes onsite electricity usage by up to 80% — a measurable, recoverable reduction on your monthly bill.

18th Edition & IPAF trained

All engineers are 18th Edition qualified electricians, with IPAF training for Mobile Elevate Platform work up to 12 metres+.

12–24 month payback

Typical payback periods of 12–24 months, sometimes less. The detailed survey gives you a specific number for your site.

Common Questions

LED upgrade questions answered.

The questions we get asked most often when businesses are weighing up an LED upgrade — covering payback, disruption, grants, controls, and what the survey actually involves. If yours isn’t here, just call or drop us a line.

Still have questions?
Our team responds to enquiries within one working hour during business hours.

The free survey identifies your existing lighting setup, measures the typical hours of use, and works out the kWh you’re currently consuming. We then design a like-for-like LED replacement and calculate the new consumption. The difference, multiplied by your unit electricity cost, gives the annual saving. Divide the install cost by the annual saving and you’ve got your payback period — usually 12–24 months, often less.

No. Many clients phase the upgrade — by zone, floor, or building — to spread the capital cost or work around operational constraints. The survey will show which areas give the fastest payback if you want to target those first. Whole-building upgrades are typically cheaper per fitting on the install side, but phased rollouts can be funded from the savings as you go.

Modern LEDs are available in a wide range of colour temperatures — from warm 2700K (similar to an incandescent) through neutral 4000K to cool 6000K. The design stage covers colour temperature, lux levels and beam angle, and we’ll work with you to specify lighting that suits the space and the people in it. CIBSE guidelines also factor in here for productive working environments.

The survey identifies existing controls — dimmers, occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, time switches — and the design will specify LED drivers that are compatible with what you want to keep. Where existing controls aren’t LED-compatible (some older trailing-edge dimmers, for instance) we’ll flag that in the quotation and offer replacement options.

Funding to assist with the initial outlay cost is often available, but the specific schemes change frequently — sometimes regionally, sometimes by sector. As part of the quotation process we’ll check what’s currently on offer for your premises type and location, and point you toward the right application route. Get in touch and we’ll go through the latest.

Yes. Warehouses, factories and high-bay environments are some of the highest-impact LED upgrades — large numbers of high-wattage fittings running long hours give significant savings. Access is no problem either: we use Mobile Elevate Platforms for heights over 12 metres, and all our staff are IPAF trained in their use. The survey covers both the lighting design and the access strategy for installation.
