Six things that come as standard on every BLEC fire alarm service visit — from the front door of your panel right through to the standby battery.
If something goes wrong between scheduled visits — fault, false alarm, dead panel — we're on call round the clock.
BLEC is BAFE-registered (ID 303207) — the independent register insurers, regulators and tendering bodies recognise.
Tailored to your premises, your risk profile, and your budget — not a one-size-fits-all contract.
Every visit run to the BS 5839-1 servicing schedule — the standard your fire risk assessor and insurer expect.
In-house team equipped with the latest tools and technologies — no sub-contracting, no unfamiliar engineers.
Every visit documented, certificate issued, faults itemised — ready for inspection, insurance or audit.
Access control sits inside a wider security and life-safety system — we cover the whole picture.
If your existing system is beyond economic repair, we'll design and install a replacement that's BS 5839 compliant from day one.
Reactive call-out, fault diagnosis and repair — for issues that crop up between scheduled visits.
Recurring faults often point to underlying design issues — a fresh fire risk assessment can identify what's really going on.
Real reviews from the property managers, estate agents and freeholders we serve nationwide.
The questions we get asked most often when business owners and facilities teams set up or review a fire alarm servicing contract. If yours isn’t here, just call or drop us a line.
BS 5839-1 recommends a service visit at least every 6 months. Many sites do this as two visits a year — typically half of the devices tested at each visit so the whole system is checked annually. In addition, the responsible person should carry out a brief weekly user test (sounding a different call point each week) and a monthly check of standby supplies. We can walk you through what that looks like.
Yes. We service all the common UK fire alarm panels and devices, and most of our service clients didn’t originally install with us. We’ll start with a handover inspection — confirm the current state of the system, document any pre-existing issues, and quote against bringing anything non-compliant up to standard. From there we slot you into the regular service cycle.
The engineer checks the control panel (fault history, event log, indicators, screen), tests every detector, manual call point and sounder zone by zone, load-tests the backup batteries, and verifies the standby supply. Any faults are itemised and quoted. Your logbook is updated and a service certificate issued.
Yes — the sounders are tested as part of every visit, which means short bursts of audible alarm. We coordinate with you up front, notify the building, isolate any monitoring receiving centre or auto-dial features, and keep tests short. For sites where this is disruptive we can schedule out-of-hours visits.
A false alarm is the system triggering when there’s no fire — caused by dust, steam, cooking fumes, faulty detectors or detectors in the wrong location. Frequent false alarms undermine the system (people start to ignore them) and can cost money via fire brigade callout charges. Servicing helps catch the causes — dirty detectors, ageing devices, or design issues — and we’ll recommend changes if a particular zone keeps misfiring.
Call the 24-hour line. Contract clients get priority emergency response — we’ll have an engineer on the way as quickly as we can. Common between-visit issues include false alarms, fault indications on the panel, dead detectors, or sounder failures. In many cases we can talk you through a quick make-safe over the phone, then attend in person.
