The questions we get asked most often when businesses are setting up an electrical maintenance contract, switching providers, or calling us out for an emergency. If yours isn’t here, just call or drop us a line.
A typical contract covers scheduled visits, PAT testing, lighting and power servicing, emergency lighting tests, and priority 24-hour call-out — but the scope is tailored to your building. We’ll do a free survey first, scope what you actually need, and quote against it. No two contracts look exactly the same.
Our 24-hour emergency call-out is available year-round. Contract clients get priority response — typically an engineer on site within hours for genuine emergencies (power loss, exposed wiring, anything posing immediate risk). Response times vary by distance from Plymouth, but we’ll always be clear on ETA the moment you call.
Both work. Reactive call-outs are fine for one-off repairs, and we’ll quote on the day. A planned maintenance contract tends to be better value for properties with multiple systems and ongoing needs — predictable cost, scheduled visits, and priority emergency response. Most of our long-term clients started with a one-off call and moved onto a contract.
Lighting (interior, exterior, emergency), power circuits and distribution, security and access systems, fire alarm interfaces, and air conditioning electrical infrastructure. Essentially anything electrical that runs inside your building. Where a specialist subsystem (like a fire suppression release or AC compressor) needs a manufacturer-specific engineer, we’ll be honest and tell you.
It can be — and usually is, because it’s far more efficient to handle as part of a planned visit than a separate booking. Every appliance is tested, labelled and recorded, with a register kept for your insurer or H&S inspector. PAT can also be sold standalone if that’s all you need.
Yes. BLEC is an NICEIC approved contractor, BAFE registered and SafeContractor accredited. Every engineer in the team is fully qualified for the work they’re doing, and we carry full public liability and employer’s liability cover. Proof of certs available on request.
